I’m here to help!

Most of the kids in my life call me Dr. Bilello.  My three favorites call me mom.

Like many of you – amidst the homework assignments, ballet carpools, music lessons, soccer practices, Scout meetings and swim lessons – I’m trying to limit screen time, offer fresh fruits and vegetables, enforce a consistent bedtime and minimize sibling battles.   It’s not always easy! I’m hoping to share some helpful things I’ve learned along the way.

What you will find in this blog:

  • Basic medical information to keep parental panic to a minimum.
  • Recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Center for Disease Control on all sorts of topics including sleep, behavior and disease prevention.
  • General guidelines for breastfeeding, childhood nutrition and picky eaters.
  • Ways to encourage early social, language and physical development of your child.

What you won’t find in this blog:

  • Anything to make you feel guilty about not putting organic undershirts on your children.
  • Specific medical advice (rashes are just too hard to diagnose via blog).
  • How to bubble wrap your child so as to prevent all disease exposure.

As a general pediatrician and mom, I’m constantly thinking and reading about kids, their health and parenting.  Unfortunately, there’s no simple recipe for creating happy and healthy kids that grow into happy and healthy adults.  Let’s figure this out and enjoy it together!
